Prime Minister John Key could be appearing on American television as a guest on the Late Show with David Letterman.
The Dominion Post reported on the Stuff website that on his upcoming visit to New York that Mr Key may take part in a guest spot on the show's tongue-in-cheek "Top Ten" slot.
The appearance has yet to be confirmed.
Mr Key is travelling to New York in September to give a speech to the United Nations General assembly and other business.
