Tennis fans were privy to a bit of on-court romance at the ASB Classic in Auckland this afternoon when one fan proposed to his partner of 15 years at the end of the first semi-final.
Before the large crowd, Ralph Chang, 30, walked into the middle of the court, ring box in hand, to pop the question to 30-year-old partner Cathy Qin.
Ms Qin, who initially thought she had come on court to win a tennis prize, got a little more than she had bargained for, but happily said yes.
Mr Chang said pulling off the proposal "was a dream come true".
"I have always wanted to do something special and unique when it came to proposing to Cathy ... Given the scale of the proposal I had a lot of help with several different parties involved.
"It was nearly impossible to keep this a secret."
