A man accused of assaulting an 8-month-old baby who has since died has been charged with the infant's murder.
The 33-year-old, who has interim name suppression, reappeared at the Hamilton District Court today.
He was remanded in custody until his next appearance on July 8 at the High Court.
Police initially charged the man with assaulting the child following an incident at their house on Sunday.
He last appeared before the court on Tuesday where he sought bail through his lawyer.

The baby boy was admitted to Waikato Hospital with head injuries and was later moved to Starship Children's Hospital, but died overnight on Monday.
