A man who fell 12 storeys from a balcony at a hotel in the Auckland CBD on Friday remains in hospital in a critical condition today.
The 25-year-old man was considered lucky to be alive after he fell from the 16th floor of the All Seasons hotel - his 42m fall broken by the corrugated iron roof of a neighbouring building. He suffered severe head injuries.
The man had been visiting a guest at the time of the incident, according to staff.
Witnesses reported seeing two men jumping on seats and a table on the small corner balcony before the fall.
Meanwhile, a teenager who plummeted six storeys from an inner city Auckland building remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Construction site worker Jarrod Monkley, 16, is recovering at Auckland City Hospital after he plunged from the new Auckland University of Technology building on Mayoral Drive last week.
The construction worker suffered two broken ankles, punctured lungs, a neck injury, possible brain damage and other internal injuries.
