Man dies after assault in Hornby

Canterbury police are investigating a homicide after a man in his 30s died after being assaulted in Hornby yesterday.

Acting Detective Inspector Mike Ford said police received a report about 7.45pm of an assault at a house on Skerten Ave.

A man in his 30s sustained serious injuries during the assault and sadly died at the scene.

Two people were arrested following the incident, which is believed to be an isolated event between people known to each other.

Police were not seeking anyone else in relation to the matter.

Inquiries were continuing with witnesses being spoken to and scene examinations underway at the Skerten Ave property and another address in Bishopdale.

Police wanted to hear from anyone with information about the incident which could assist with the ongoing investigation.

In particular, police wanted to speak to anyone who may have seen a white Holden Commodore parked on Skerten Ave yesterday evening, around 7.30pm to 7.45pm.
