A man who crashed into a tree near Wakefield, at the top of the South Island, yesterday has died.
The 40-year-old was critically injured in the crash - which happened about 2.30pm on State Highway 6 at Motupiko - and flown to Wellington Hospital.
Police said in a statement today the man died overnight.
Inquiries are ongoing.
