A man has died after falling 16m from a third floor balcony at a hotel in Hokitika, police say.
West Coast police are investigating the incident at the Beach Front Hotel about midnight on Saturday.
The 58-year-old man was staying in Hokitika with his wife and other friends, police said.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
