A man was killed when his tractor tipped down a bank and landed on rail lines north of Taumarunui this morning.
The crash happened around 10am on Ongarue-Waimiha Road near the outskirts of Ongarue village, police said.
The man in his 20s was towing a haymaking implement when the crash happened.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were investigating and the railway line was closed until a scene examination was completed.
