Man smuggled ecstasy in Harrods gift baskets

A man who smuggled hundreds of thousands of ecstasy tablets into New Zealand from London inside Harrods gift baskets has been jailed for eight years and nine months.

British national Matthew Frewer, 38, was sentenced in the High Court in Auckland today after earlier pleaded guilty to three charges of supplying MDMA, The New Zealand Herald reported.

Justice Geoffrey Venning ordered him to serve a minimum non-parole period of four years and thee months.
