Manslaughter charges after passenger dies

A 22-year-old man who allegedly crashed an overloaded car near Dargaville last month, killing a passenger, has been charged with manslaughter.

Police said the man also faced five charges of excess blood alcohol causing injury.

He was to appear in Dargaville District Court today

The Subaru sedan carrying seven passengers lost control on a bend at Aoroa, south of Dargaville, early on November 11.

It landed on its roof, killing a 19-year-old man.
