A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in South Auckland today.
The crash happened at the State Highway 1 and 2 interchange, on the southern side of the Bombay Hills, just after midday, police said.
A woman motorcycle rider hit the barrier and received significant injuries.
She was flown to Middlemore Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, police said.
Diversions were in place this afternoon.
Initial indications were that neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash, police said.
The serious crash unit was investigating the cause of the incident.
Police thanked the members of the public who stopped after the crash and provided help before emergency services arrived.
