A woman was critically injured today after her motorcycle and a car collided in Lynmore.
The crash at the corner of Te Ngae Rd and Allen Mills Rd happened about 3.55pm, said Police Northern Communications Inspector Earl McIntosh.
Traffic was backed up on Te Ngae Rd and diverted while emergency services attended.
Mr McIntosh said the motorcyclist, believed to be in her 60s, was taken to Rotorua Hospital in a critical condition. Nobody else was injured.
A man working nearby, who did not wish to be named, said he only noticed the crash when he saw the second ambulance reach the scene.
"We didn't hear or see anything until we saw another ambulance whiz past. That's when we all went out to see what was going on."
Police were investigating the cause of the crash.
