Motorcyclist dies in fiery Christchurch crash

A motorcyclist is dead following a fiery collision with a car in Christchurch last night.

Police confirmed the motorcyclist - a 20-year-old man - died at the scene on Aldwins Rd, just north of Ferry Rd, shortly after 6pm.

A neighbour described hearing the motorbike hit a fence before it became "a big fireball that burned for an hour", Stuff reports.

Aldwins Rd was closed overnight.

The serious crash unit is investigating.
