Murder accused remains on the run

Teenage murder accused Beauen Wallace-Loretz remains on the run for a fifth day after disconnecting his electronic monitoring anklet and fleeing from a bail address last Thursday.

Police today renewed their calls for Wallace-Loretz, 17, to turn himself in.

The teen was on electronic bail awaiting trial over the death of 54-year-old Ihaia Gillman-Harrison on December 27 last year at Auckland's Ascot Epsom Motel.

But last Thursday, police were notified that he had disconnected his electronic monitoring anklet and absconded from an Avondale bail address shortly before 11pm.

Today, Detective Inspector Scott Beard said police were still appealing to Wallace-Loretz to hand himself in or make contact with his legal representatives to assist him.

Mr Beard said police would not speculate as to whether anyone may or may not be helping him, but encouraged anyone who was to stop and contact police.

Meanwhile, police continued to appeal for any information about Wallace-Loretz, who was described as a thin Maori youth about 1.64m tall.

Police said he was considered dangerous and should not be approached by members of the public.

Anyone with information should contact police on 111.

Wallace-Loretz and murder co-accused Leonard Nattrass-Berquist -- who is also on electronic bail -- are also accused of robbing Mr Gillman-Harris of cash, a cellphone and bank card as well as unlawfully taking his $15,000 Range Rover.
