A 40-year-old Nelson man has been arrested after a "firearms incident".
The Nelson CIB and Armed Offenders Squad were called to an address in the city late last night, Detective Sergeant Mark Kaveney said.
The area was cordoned off for several hours before the man was arrested, he said.
"The incident was not domestic related, and no threats were made by the man to the occupants of the house, who were known to him."
The man will appear in Nelson District Court today.
