One critical after explosion at Christchurch property

A person is in a critical condition after an explosion at a rural Christchurch property this morning.

The incident occurred at a Pound Rd property in Yaldhurst about 11.20am.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said a pipe being cut by a worker caused the explosion.

St John said two ambulances, a rapid response unit and a manager responded.

One person in a critical condition was taken to Christchurch Hospital.
