A gas tanker has overturned and caught fire after colliding with a truck in North Canterbury.
Fire and Emergency and police are at the scene of the crash on Greta Rd, State Highway 1 in the Hurunui District.
Police said the incident happened just after 9am.
The driver is in a critical condition and was set to be transported to hospital by helicopter.
Diversions were being put in place and the road could be closed for some time.
The Serious Crash Unit are attending the scene.
