A person is dead following a crash between a truck and car near Timaru this afternoon.
Police said they were called to the scene on State Highway 1 between Half Chain Rd and King St at 2.25pm.
"The road is closed and is expected to remain so for the next few hours."
The Serious Crash Unit is on its way and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Team is at the scene.
