Pedestrian killed in Christchurch named

Police have named a pedestrian who died after being hit by a motorcycle in Christchurch yesterday.

He was 60-year-old Nagaraj Mookkaiah, of Addington.

Emergency services were called to a crash on Blenheim Rd near the intersection on Foster St, at 6.37pm yesterday.

The New Zealand Herald reported that the man was crossing Blenheim Rd about 40 metres from a controlled crossing when the motorcyclist hit him.

The Serious Crash Unit was notified.
