Pizza delivery man robbed at gunpoint

A pizza delivery man was robbed at gunpoint in Tauranga last night.

The worker was delivering an order to an address in the suburb of Parkvale when the alleged gunman refused to pay for his $23 worth of pizzas.

The man was allegedly armed with a handgun, and demanded the worker hand over the food without payment, police said.

The delivery man ran away and phoned police.

The Tauranga armed offenders squad was sent to the scene and a man in his 20s was arrested at around 11pm.

He was being interviewed by police overnight, while an officer guarded the scene of the robbery.

Enquiries would continue this morning, police said.
