Police hunt parents of wandering girl (4)

Auckland police are searching for the parents of a four-year-old girl found in Papatoetoe yesterday.

The child was found without adults at 4.30pm, Inspector Anthony Edwards said.

Police had not found the girl's parents and no one had come forward to report their daughter missing, Mr Edwards said.

The girl, who answers to the name Valerie, had been taken into Child, Youth and Family care.

Police were seeking help from the public to find the girl's family.

Valerie, appeared to be of Samoan descent and at the time police found her she was wearing a blue denim skirt, white boots and multi coloured stockings, Mr Edwards said.
