Police can now release the name of the man who died when his motorcycle collided with a tractor near Darfield on Friday.
The person killed was Hamish John Dysart (45) from Darfield, South Canterbury.
It happened on Creyke Road in Darfield around 8pm Friday night.
The pillion, or back cushion passenger, who was injured in the crash, remains in a serious but stable condition in Christchurch hospital.
The Police Serious Crash Unit investigated the scene.
