Internet users who access porn sites are being warned that a message from police advising them they've been fined is a scam.
Police have received several reports about the scam, in which people accessing adult websites receive a message including the police logo and asking users to enter banking details.
In at least one case, the person's computer was frozen and they were told it would remain frozen until they paid the fee into the account.
Police say they have no association with any of the websites and suggest users avoid accessing them. Police also encourage web users to protect their computers with appropriate anti-virus software.
