Man cut from vehicle after Kaikoura crash

A man had to be cut from his vehicle and flown to hospital after a crash in Kaikōura overnight.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Ludstone Road at about 1am this morning.

It is understood the 25-year-old driver crashed into a parked car and caused power lines to fall.

The man had to be cut from the wreck and was flown by rescue helicopter to Christchurch Hospital in a moderate to serious condition, emergency services said.

It is unclear if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
