Man injured after another Mt Cook National Park avalanche

A man has moderate injuries after an avalanche in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park.

Police said they were alerted around midday.

The man has been transported by helicopter to a search and rescue base with injuries to his pelvis and possibly his ribs, police said.

No one else was injured.

It comes after five climbers were hit by an avalanche in the same area on Tuesday.

New Zealand Avalanche advisory said there is currently considerable risk of an avalanche on the mountain in all areas above 1200 metres.
