A man has serious injuries after a shooting in the Auckland suburb of Manurewa early today.

Armed police are guarding the scene and a cordon has been set up at the end of a driveway on Gibbs Rd.

Emergency services were called to an address at 3.45am.

Police said a person was taken to hospital with serious injuries, and inquiries were ongoing.

It comes less than 36 hours after a man was shot and died in the Auckland suburb of Ōtara.

That incident resulted in armed police guarding the scene all of yesterday.

A man has been charged with murder in relation to the Ōtara death.

It's not known whether the incidents are related.
