Police have found a second man who escaped custody in Levin.

Emmanuel Witana, 23, was arrested at around 7pm last night in Palmerston North.

Wiremu Eparaima, 30, who was among those that escaped police custody, was arrested on 25 August in Otaki.

A third man, 27-year-old Te Wera Hemara is still sought by police.

He should not be approached and anyone with information on his whereabouts should call 111.

The trio escaped when one of them pressed a lever opening the garage door while a fourth man held back an officer.

Police have admitted they did not follow their own rules on how many staff should have been there.

Information can also be reported to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
