The family of a missing Dutch tourist is travelling out from Holland as the search for him continues.

Ken Boogers, 26, has not been seen since Saturday, when he was walking on the Pillar Point track between Wharariki and Puponga in Golden Bay.

Police had been in touch with "constant contact" with his family who were on travelling to New Zealand, police spokeswoman Barbara Dunn said.

"I don't know exactly when they are arriving, but they are on their way."

Four teams of up to four searchers each were back in the area today, she said.

"[They were searching] the whole area between Wharakiki and Puponga out to Farewell Spit."

The weather conditions in the area had been fine, Ms Dunn said.

Police would like to speak to anyone who has seen Mr Boogers since Saturday.

Anyone with information could call Nelson police on 03 5463840 or Takaka police on 03 5259211.
