Police search and rescue teams, together with family and friends of missing woman Melissa Dalgety, are continuing efforts to find her on Sunday.

Ms Dalgety, also known as Melissa Gray, has not been seen since Thursday morning. Her vehicle was found later that afternoon parked at Waikuku Beach carpark.

Since then police search and rescue crews, together with surf lifesaving volunteers, have been scouring the area for any sign of the 34-year-old.

Inspector Peter Cooper, Area Commander for Rural Canterbury, said on Sunday police would continue their efforts in conjunction with family members and other volunteers on the ground.

Anyone with information should call (03) 363-7661.

Police earlier had 28 searchers from the Police SAR squad, Christchurch and Oxford LandSAR groups, including two search dogs, searching the forest, beach and properties of Waikuku Beach in cold and wet conditions.

However, the weather was clearing around Christchurch on Sunday with fine weather until Monday evening when a few showers were expected.
