Settled midweek weather on way

A showery start to the morning will ease to blue skies for most parts of the country tomorrow.

Metservice meteorologist Rob Kerr said a high was moving over much of the country that would create a "more settled weather".

Auckland currently had "blue skies and fluffy clouds" but light showers were expected tomorrow morning, Mr Kerr said.

However, Aucklanders can expect some sunshine in the afternoon as showers clear.

Although the sun was shining in the capital today, Wellington would experience morning showers tomorrow with fresh southerlies.

Mr Kerr said Christchurch was "quite miserable" today but apart from a few showers tomorrow morning, Cantabrians may see some sunshine.

Dunedin and Invercargill were windy and rainy but this would gradually ease tomorrow.

Tomorrow's weather

Dunedin: Morning cloud, showers, then fine. Southwest dying out. High 11C.

Auckland: A few morning showers. Southwesterlies. High 17C.

Hamilton: Morning cloud, then fine. Southwesterlies. High 19C.

Wellington: Few morning showers. Fine spells in afternoon. Fresh southerlies. High 12C.
