A teenage girl was sexually violated by a stranger as she walked along a Palmerston North street early this morning, police say.
The 19-year-old is currently being comforted "by friends and police support agencies" after she was approached by an unknown man on Broadway Ave at the intersection of Albert St.
Police are appealing for information from anyone who was in the area between 3am and 7am.
