The South Island's main route has re-opened after being blocked by slips earlier today.
Several slips blocked both lanes of State Highway 1 at Ward, south of Blenheim early this morning, with only 4-wheel drives and heavy vehicles initially able to get through, said NZ Transport Agency spokesman Anthony Frith.
One lane re-opened from 9.30am, and both lanes were open from 10.30am, he said.
