Police are still on the hunt for a man who allegedly stabbed a woman in Christchurch on Wednesday.

The incident happened on Gamblins Rd, St Martins, at about 11.30am, near the New World supermarket.

A police spokeswoman said the woman's injuries were not life-threatening.

"Police are following lines of inquiry to locate the person responsible," she said.

Three houses on Wilson's Rd and a footpath were taped off on Wednesday after the incident. 

Residents told Star News  they saw two men and a women involved in an 'altercation'.
