A 27-year-old man has a fractured skull after being assaulted outside a strip club in Christchurch early on Sunday morning.
Detective Sergeant Mark Reid said the victim had been drinking inside the Calendar Girls bar on Armagh St, but was "ejected".
Once outside the bar he was assaulted but police were unsure whether anyone else from inside the bar was involved.
They believe two men were involved in the assault and would like to hear from any witnesses.
The victim spent most of Sunday in hospital but was released last night.
Police have yet to speak to him.
