Suppresion for second man charged over Gisborne murder

A man charged with being an accessory to the murder of Gisborne man Douglas Deb-Den Witeri in April was given interim name suppression when he appeared in Gisborne District Court yesterday.

Mr Witeri, 39, died of a gunshot wound to his head sustained at a house in Kowhai St on April 20.

Gisborne man Troy Vincent McHugh, 42, has been charged and pleaded not guilty to murder and a second charge of assaulting Mr Witeri.

A 44-year-old man facing charges relating to the murder appeared before a court registrar in Gisborne yesterday morning.

He was released on bail, given interim name suppression and has been scheduled to reappear in Gisborne District Court on August 6.
