A teenage driver has been charged with drink-driving after police alleged she caused a North Canterbury crash that wrecked an ambulance.
While the 17-year old woman and three ambulance staff were uninjured in the October 3 smash, the ambulance suffered $150,000 worth of damage and has been deemed a write-off.
The teenager was allegedly driving unsupervised on a learner licence at the time.
She has been charged with dangerous driving and driving with excess blood alcohol and will appear at Christchurch District Court on November 20.
Police investigations into the crash, near the intersection of Oxford Rd and Merton Rd, west of Rangiora, are continuing.
