Feb 5 - Police investigating a murder in Hamilton are interviewing a 19-year-old man who handed himself in to police in Auckland this morning.
Police had been searching a number of Auckland properties looking for the man following the murder of Sedrick Tilley Tiatia at a Chartwell house, Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall of Waikato police said.
Mr Tiatia, 38, was found at the house yesterday afternoon. He had subjected to a serious assault and despite the efforts of ambulance staff, he died at the scene.
A scene examination continue today and it was hoped Mr Tiatia's body could be moved for a post-mortem examination in Auckland, Mr Keall said.
Police still wanted to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Winstone Ave in Chartwell between 1pm and 2pm yesterday who may have seen anything suspicious.
They were asked to contact Hamilton police on 07 858 6200.
