Police have named the 17-year-old killed in an apparent accidental shooting on a South Wairarapa farm today.
Detective Sergeant Bill van Woerkom from Wairarapa CIB said Aaron Phillip Grimwood, of Carterton, was treated for a chest wound after being shot by a .22 rifle, but died shortly afterwards.
Ambulance and police were called to the Tuturamuri address, 31km south of Martinborough, about 9.30am.
Police have charged a 17-year-old man with careless use of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm and were not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
Police seized two firearms from the property. The coroner will investigate the death.
