Dead toddler may have drowned

A 2-year-old boy has died in what police are calling a possible drowning at Whakatāne, in the North island.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident near Sullivan Lake about 8.45am. 

No further information was immediately available, but enquiries were ongoing.
