A man is being treated by St John ambulance staff after a crash between a car and truck on State Highway 2, south of Te Puke.
The car the man was travelling in became wedged between a barrier and the truck at the intersection of SH2 and Rangiuru Rd about 1.45pm.
Early reports suggested the man was trapped in the car but responding firefighters were later stood down as the man was able to get out of the vehicle.
A policeman at the scene said the man was not believed to be seriously hurt.
