Two injured in Canterbury crash

Two drivers were seriously injured in a crash involving a car, a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a truck this afternoon.

Police said emergency services were alerted to the crash on Lineside Road, Flaxton, about 22km north of Christchurch city.

The crash happened at about 1.22pm near the intersection with Fernside Road.

Police said the drivers of the car and four-wheel-drive were reported to be seriously injured and would be taken to Christchurch Hospital by helicopter.

"The driver of the truck is reported to have minor injuries and is still being assessed at the scene," Canterbury Police said in a statement.

Diversions were in place on Lineside Road between Mulcocks Road and Marsh Road, and also on Fernside Road between Flaxton Road and Lineside Road.

Police advised the public to find alternative routes to avoid the crash scene and said the diversions would cause delays to traffic.
