Two trapped in Canterbury crash

Two people were trapped and seriously injured after a pile-up involving a truck and two cars outside Christchurch this morning.

The crash happened on State Highway One, near Templeton, around 11.30am.

A truck and two cars are understood to have collided and some of the occupants were trapped for a time in their vehicles, police said.

Initial reports are that two people had serious injuries and two had minor injuries.

SH1 is closed and diversions are in place along Curraghs Rd and Dawsons Rd.
