The unemployment rate rose to 4.2 percent in the September quarter from 3.9 percent in the three months to June, Statistics New Zealand said today.
The Household Labour Force Survey showed seasonally adjusted employment increased 0.1 percent in the quarter.
The seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate was up 0.1 percentage points.
