A woman is dead after apparently being struck by a train in west Auckland this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene at the intersection of Rankin Ave and Clark St, near New Lynn train station, about 12.55pm.
Ambulance northern communications centre team manager Murray Bannister told NZPA a woman was found dead at the scene.
Traffic was restricted following the incident. There was no access through the roundabout from Clark St to Totara Rd, with drivers encouraged to use alternative routes around Lynn Mall Shopping Centre.
Inspector Kay Lane, of the police northern communications centre, said train travellers could also expect delays on the western line.
