A woman who died after swimming in the sea at Rabbit Island, Nelson yesterday has been named.
Adelheid Wilma Stock, 71, had been swimming with a friend before she was pulled unconscious from the water about 5pm yesterday.
Attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.
Ms Stock lived in Nelson, police said.
