$47m Govt boost to ambulance sector

The Government has announced a $47 million funding boost for the ambulance sector over the next five years.

Health Minister David Cunliffe said today the sector had some urgent needs and the money would go some way to addressing them.

"I expect this funding to be used to reduce part charges by the ambulance sector and to address in part the issue of single crewing," he said.

The way the money is used will be reviewed after consultation on the draft ambulance strategy is completed.

The draft was released in September and is open for public submissions until December 12.
