Candidate for cannabis party

A University of Otago politics student who has been prosecuted for cannabis three times in the past five years has been named the Dunedin North representative of the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party (ALCP) for the 2008 General Election.

Julian Crawford is in his final year of a bachelor of arts degree and has been involved in the cannabis law reform movement for many years.

Mr Crawford will formally launch his campaign today at the University of Otago, where he will address the weekly 4.20pm protest.

He will outline the party's election policy and encourage supporters to make sure they are enrolled.
