New Governor-General sworn in

Dame Patsy Reddy has been sworn in as New Zealand’s 21st governor-general.

She is the third woman to hold the position and took the oath of office at a ceremony on Parliament’s forecourt yesterday.

Dame Patsy (62), who has a legal and business background, has taken over from Sir Jerry Mateparae as the Queen’s representative in New Zealand.
