Mr Peters and his party were not re-elected in the 2008 election after his party was rocked by its handling of undeclared donations through secret trusts and payments towards Mr Peters' legal fees.
In notes for a speech to be delivered in his Tauranga electorate tonight, Mr Peters said the party was active and determined to return to Parliament.
"To that end we have been carefully checking our processes and organisational arrangements to ensure that our house is entirely ship shape," Mr Peters said.
"There will be no successful repeat of the attacks that derailed us in 2008."
In the speech Mr Peters attacks the number of immigrants allowed into New Zealand as costing the country money and said for those who gained entry "it's like winning Lotto - without even paying the cost of a ticket".
NZ First was needed in Parliament to defend superannuation as National would look to cut superannuation entitlements in its second term, he said.
