Protests on home front irk Key

Prime Minister John Key is unhappy that protesters are targeting his home.

Unite Union protested at his Parnell house yesterday against the Bill introducing a 90-day probation period for new employees in small workplaces.

Mr Key said it was the fourth protest at his home since he became Prime Minister last month.

He had had protests from the Fathers' Union every weekend, with loudspeakers and mobile vans.

He said he was not home yesterday when the demonstrators arrived, but he rang his wife to see if she was all right.

"For the vast bulk of occasions, I am simply not home and I don't believe it is appropriate to be protesting to my wife and children."
